The Best Spots for Edinburgh Instagram Photo-Ops
Edinburgh, Scotland is a magical city, full of charm and wonder. To be honest, the entire city is quite “instagrammable.” However, listed below are my top ten spots for Edinburgh Instagram Photo-Ops.
1. Cockburn Street
This road is 1000% my number one top spot for an Edinburgh Instagram photo op. Cockburn Street looks like it was taken straight out of a fairytale book, and plopped down in the center of Edinburgh. You absolutely need to take a stroll down this cobblestone street and see all the wonderful shops, cafes, restaurants and bars here!

2. St. Giles Cathedral
I’ve been in a number of cathedrals during my travels, and I definitely vote St. Giles as one of the most instagrammable! Both inside and out, this cathedral is stunning.

3. Inchcolm Island & Castle
I could let the pictures speak for themselves, but what I will say is that this area is a photographers dream! Why? Because the crowds are extremely limited and you have complete free reign to take pictures to your hearts content.

4. Greyfriars Kirkyard
I do love exploring graveyards, though not all of them are as instagram-worthy as Greyfriars Kirkyard. I don’t know if it’s the beautifully decorated gravestones. Or perhaps it’s the view of the Edinburgh Castle from above. But this is definitely one of the best spots for Edinburgh Instagram pics.

5. Edinburgh Castle
Speaking of the Edinburgh Castle, you cannot go to the beautiful capital city of Scotland without a visit! I actually enjoyed visiting during COVID-times because entrances (and therefore crowds) are limited and it made for some great photo opportunities!

6. Salisbury Crags
I mean, just look at the photos… and you don’t even need to hike that far to get to these views. Read my previous blog post to get all the information you need.

7. The Royal Mile
Another amazing road in Edinburgh, that is also super famous! You will be guaranteed to get some Edinburgh Instagram-worthy photographs here.

8. Calton Hill
I stumbled upon this attraction by complete accident, but I discovered it was one of my favorite places to take pictures. So now I want to share it with you! Definitely come here if you want to get some fabulous shots of Edinburgh from above.

9. Princes Street
Yet another Edinburgh Instagrammable street! I can’t help it if this entire city belongs on the cover of a National Geographic magazine, can I?

10. Firth of Forth
So this is not technically in Edinburgh, but rather, it is the body of water that touches Edinburgh. To take a tour, you do need to take a half hour drive to Queensferry, which is where you will get a lot of your Instagram pictures.

I hope you enjoyed my best spots for Edinburgh Instagram photo-ops! If you are looking for a great itinerary for this city, check out my recent Edinburgh blog post! It contains all of the below places, and more!
